MIRA China and CAERI Partner to be the First Co-Approved Supplier for Euro NCAP Crash Tests in China
China Automobile Engineering Research Institute (CAERI) has officially announced that it has become the first co-approved test facility outside of Europe by Euro NCAP. It was approved to conduct Euro NCAP related crash tests in China with accredited Europe test labs. The co-approved test facility is located in Chongqing, China.
With the assistance of HORIBA MIRA for the whole process and strict compliance with the test protocols, CAERI has successfully passed the co-approval requirements of Euro NCAP. CAERI and MIRA China also announced the signing of a cooperative MoU on the same day, dedicated to providing Euro NCAP related crash testing services for the Chinese market.
HORIBA MIRA is one of the Euro NCAP accredited Europe test labs, with over 70 years’ engineering experience, it is a global provider of pioneering engineering, research and test services to the transportation industry, committed to making vehicles and journeys safer, cleaner and smarter.
In an exciting step forward for the Chinese automotive industry, it is the first time that Euro NCAP has co-approved a test facility outside of Europe, allowing Chinese vehicle manufacturers to locally test their vehicles destined for the European market, to Euro NCAP’s stringent safety standards.
Euro NCAP is the founder of the European Safety Rating system and is responsible for developing assessment crash tests for new vehicles, providing real and independent assessments of vehicle safety performance for consumers. These tests represent simplified real-life accident scenarios that may lead to injury or death for car users or other road users. These ratings have a great impact on consumers’ choice of cars.
With an increasing number of Chinese vehicles now being produced and available for Europe, there has never been a better time for the introduction of this service to the market. The partnership sees CAERI, a leading technical support institution in product development, experimental study and quality inspection, join with MIRA China’s world-class automotive engineering, research, development and testing services, to deliver a complete turnkey solution for the Chinese automotive market.
Roy Quinney, Chief Engineer at MIRA China said:
“Historically Chinese vehicle manufacturers have had to seek Euro NCAP approval overseas but to combat this, we’ve invested in a solution that will save Chinese OEMs both time and money.
“As the first to offer a Euro NCAP accreditation service in China, our partnership with CAERI delivers a solution that not only enables our customers to test to Euro NCAP standards locally but also take advantage of our engineering and consultancy services that are now located within the CAERI test facility. We’re positive about the future of the partnership and look forward to welcoming many new customers through the doors.”
Liu Ming, Deputy Manager of CAERI’s crash lab, said:
“The co-approved test lab will provide objective and fair test results for society. For Chinese vehicle manufacturers, the co-approved test lab will provide a world-leading test platform to help them save the cost of testing and developing their vehicles in Europe, which will enhance the development efficiency of the company. Through the inspection of a globally recognised rating system, manufacturers can get their vehicle performance parameters quicker and more accurately. The co-approved test lab will provide world-leading and efficient technical support and test services for Chinese vehicle manufacturers to open the Europe market.”
