MIRA Appoints New Managing Director for China

MIRA, the internationally recognised transport engineering consultancy, has announced the appointment of Jason Bao as MD of MIRA China. The appointment follows the opening of a new office in Shanghai in 2012 and the establishment of MIRA China as a Wholly Foreign Owned Entity (WFOE), marking the next significant step in the company’s international expansion strategy.

Jason, formally Vice President of Segula Technologies Asia, brings more than 15 years’ experience working for both China and US-based technology and engineering companies; building and establishing local teams that play a critical part in the delivery of global programmes.

Speaking of his appointment, Jason said:

“I am very excited about my new role at MIRA China. MIRA has been operating in China for more than 20 years. With years of experience, expertise in the industry and prospective insights, MIRA has established good relationships with a number of major domestic automobile and parts manufacturers. In terms of unit production, China now has the largest automotive industry in the world and there is a great potential to grow further.

“Looking forward, MIRA China will continue to enhance its engineering R&D capability in China, maintain its unique technological advantage in vehicle performance, and explore further other businesses such as the use of new energies. While we remain rooted in the automotive industry – and aim to become the preferred partner of domestic automobile companies on engineering technology – we will also expand into other sectors to serve our Chinese clients in a more comprehensive way.”

MIRA’s Business Development Director, Geoff Davis, welcomed the appointment. He said,

“We realised several years ago that in order to continue delivering such significant growth – MIRA has grown as a business by 50% over the last three years – we needed to expand our global footprint and invest in our international business. Since then we have undertaken several important steps in a number of countries including Brazil, India – and as this announcement testifies – China.

“We already have a strong reputation and track record in working with Chinese OEMs and now, with Jason in place as the final piece in the jigsaw, we have high hopes for what we can achieve in China in 2013 and beyond.”

Jason, who lives in Shanghai, holds a B.E from Tsinghua University and an MBA from the University of Rochester, New York.
