Laying the foundations for automated vehicle testing on British roads
HORIBA MIRA, University of York, TRL and Five were commissioned to develop a set of guidelines for low-speed automated pod commercial deployment for the UK Government’s Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV). The aim of the guidelines is to provide a technical reference for possible future regulations surrounding the safety assurance of low-speed automated pods on UK roads.
The associated report gives recommendations for a future safety and security assurance framework for low-speed automated vehicles (LSAVs). Whilst initially aimed at LSAVs, it is anticipated that the findings could help inform assurance processes for other automated vehicle use cases, such as those at higher operating speeds.
The report is now available for download, you can access an abridged version of the report here
