HORIBA MIRA Certification Limited Boosts Functional Safety Capability
HORIBA MIRA Certification Limited, can now grant formal certification to customers for Functional Safety audits completed against Edition 2 of ISO 26262.
ISO 26262 continues to be seen and accepted as state of the art for the development of electrical and electronic systems in vehicles and the release of Edition 2 brings changes to the scope. It now covers trucks, buses, motorcycles and semiconductors as well as significant changes to some of the existing requirements of the standard.
HORIBA MIRA Certification Limited is one of the first organisations to offer Functional Safety audits against ISO 26262 Edition 2 and can now carry out independent third-party evaluations of customer processes and products covered under the new Edition. This provides customers with the reassurance that not only do their processes and products comply with the requirements of ISO 26262 Edition 2, but this has been independently reviewed and confirmed.
Mitesh Chauhan, Head of Certification at HORIBA MIRA Certification Limited, said:
“Our new capability enables manufacturers whose products are covered under the revised scope to benefit from an impartial, professional and independent audit that is recognised internationally and provides manufacturers with a high level of confidence with regards to ISO 26262 product compliance.
The addition of ISO26262 Edition 2 to the HORIBA MIRA Certification Limited Schedule of Accreditation from UKAS increases its current capability, which consists of accreditation for the purpose of Notified Body Activity for the Construction Products Regulation, Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive, Machinery Directive, Outdoor Noise Directive and Radio Equipment Directive.
UKAS accreditation provides an assurance of the competence, impartiality and integrity of conformity assessment bodies. Accreditation by UKAS means that evaluators have been assessed against internationally recognised standards to demonstrate their competence, impartiality and performance capability.
