Prime Minister launches UK’s new Industrial Strategy at HORIBA MIRA
On Monday 23rd June, HORIBA MIRA was proud to host Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves, and Secretary of State for Business and Trade Jonathan Reynolds for the launch of the UK’s new Industrial Strategy.
The announcement provided a national spotlight on the people, capabilities, and ground-breaking work being driven from the heart of the Midlands and took place at HORIBA MIRA’s Kinematics & Compliance facility. Bringing together media, government, and members of our community, with Declan Allen, Managing Director of HORIBA MIRA, Dr. George Gillespie, Board Director of HORIBA, and Stuart Knight, President of HORIBA UK, in attendance, the event marked not just a proud moment for HORIBA MIRA, but a celebration of the shared purpose, collaboration, and capability that runs throughout HORIBA globally.
A significant milestone for British industry, the Industrial Strategy sets out a long-term plan to build economic resilience, boost business investment, and support high-growth sectors and regional clusters, recognising the importance of collaboration and targeted investment in driving a more productive economy.
As part of the visit, HORIBA MIRA was proud to introduce members of its early careers team to the Prime Minister and his Cabinet colleagues, including work experience students, apprentices, degree apprentices, and graduates. Highlighting the importance of skills to the UK’s future growth and the role that young people will play in shaping the technologies of tomorrow.
The wider MIRA Tech Park community also came together to showcase the strength of collaboration within our cluster, with engineers from Aston Martin Lagonda, Bosch Engineering, Iveco Group, Polestar and Bentley Motors, supported by MIRA Technology Institute, demonstrating how we’re helping to develop and deliver the next generation of advanced engineering and mobility solutions.
We were incredibly proud to welcome the Prime Minister, Chancellor, and Business Secretary to HORIBA MIRA for the launch of the UK’s new Industrial Strategy. Their choice of our site for such a significant national announcement speaks volumes about the strength of our cluster, the quality of our work, and the vital role we play in driving UK industry forward.
This visit was not only a recognition of what we’ve achieved, but also a powerful demonstration of what’s possible when Government and business work together, something reflected not just here at HORIBA MIRA, but across the wider HORIBA Group. Whether advancing future mobility or addressing environmental challenges like water quality, we’re combining engineering, testing, data services and world-leading analytical technology to deliver solutions with real societal benefit.
We wholeheartedly welcome the ambition of the strategy and believe that, by working closely with Government, we can drive meaningful growth through technologies that make a tangible difference to people’s lives.
My sincere thanks go to the entire team who brought this moment to life so brilliantly.
Declan Allen, Managing Director of HORIBA MIRA
