SOTIF Consultancy on ADAS L1 and L2 features

Case Study Overview

A US based start up was looking for external support to implement ADAS features they had mostly developed in-house.

We helped to scope the project and proposed an approach for SOTIF activities to run alongside the ongoing Functional Safety activities already being provided by HORIBA MIRA.

Approach

Successes and benefits

Delivering the project alongside on-going functional safety work also allowed deliverables to be captured in Medini Analyze.

Key benefits:

  • Easily accessible output that allowed effective alignment and cross-checking of work products

  • Saved time and delivered a more robust solution

  • The Medini Analyze export gave the customer more efficient access to all FS and SOTIF information to work from and adapt for their future developments

  • Adoption of ‘state of the art’ ISO 21448 helped to protectthe customer from product liability concerns

HORIBA MIRA is a leading expert in both Functional Safety and SOTIF, with team members involved in the international working groups for each respective standard.

HORIBA MIRA delivered both Functional Safety and SOTIF activities in parallel to maximise efficiency and speed up delivery timing to meet the customer’s deadlines.

We delivered concept phase SOTIF analysis on L1 and L2 ADAS features. This covered SOTIF identification of hazards and identification of triggering conditions, including making proposals for functional modifications and re-evaluation if required.
