The fully-let building – valued at £7m – is another major investment by MIRA demonstrating its commitment to accelerating the growth and job creation potential of its Enterprise Zone. The new facility comprises both office space and workshop facilities for five internationally-known businesses, and will bring a total of around 100 additional jobs to the MIRA Technology Park site.

The announcement is another key landmark in the first phase of the £300 million technology park development, which was granted Enterprise Zone status in 2011. As part of this phase, a further 42,500 sq ft of construction work is already underway, including the development of a European Technical Centre for Swedish firm, Haldex.

Terry Spall, Commercial Director at MIRA Technology Park, said

“We are delighted to announce the construction of another building here at MIRA Technology Park, which will be completed towards the end of 2014.

“The MIRA Technology Park proposition is being marketed across the globe, and we are continuing to attract high-profile blue chip organisations – including international vehicle manufacturers and global Tier 1 component suppliers – to the site which is a great example of exactly what the Enterprise Zone has been established to achieve.

“Around one hundred engineers and support staff will be located within this new building, and with the continuing growth in the auto sector creating an ever increasing demand for skilled engineers and technicians, MIRA is continuing to working alongside companies arriving on the Technology Park to ensure these they can find the skills and expertise they need.”

Local construction company, Deeley Construction, are carrying out the construction works across all development work currently taking place within MIRA Technology Park.

The new series of tenants will join existing high-profile businesses already based on the MIRA Technology Park site, including Bosch, Lockheed Martin and Ashok Leyland, amongst others.

Since 2010, MIRA Technology Park has created a total of 250 technology related jobs as a result of the development, with a further 170 to be created by the end of 2014. The aim is to create up to 2,000 jobs in the Technology Park by 2020 and eventually house businesses from across the automotive, aerospace, rail, defence and associated digital technology sectors.
