MIRA has a range of facilities for vehicle environmental testing including two vehicle chambers and two climatic wind tunnels (CWTs). These facilities are capable of supporting a wide range of vehicle development activities, including heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC), powertrain cooling, defrost/demist and exhaust emissions, water ingress and snow packing/ingestion.
The facilities can simulate a wide range of environmental conditions from -40ºC to +80ºC, 5 to 95% relative humidity, wind speeds up to 200kph, snow, driven rain and solar simulation with 2WD or 4WD chassis dynamometers.
These facilities enable test and development activities in controlled, repeatable conditions without the costs, inconvenience and uncertainties of in-territory testing.
We have an extensive range of vehicle exhaust emissions testing knowledge and capability developed over decades of emissions testing experience. We have VCA approval as a certified laboratory for emissions testing in both our ambient facility (VEEL) and our climatic facility (CWTone).
MIRA's inventive engineers are always developing novel ways of meeting our customers test requirements. Two such capabilities are vehicle snow and rain testing.
MIRA has many years of experience in the field of testing HVAC and Powertrain Cooling Systems. Back in 1993 MIRA opened its first Climatic Wind Tunnel (CWTone) before opening a second larger facility, enabling the company to cater for the growing demand in MIRA's thermal management capabilities. The second climatic wind tunnel, CWTtwo, allows for the testing of off-road, truck, coach and large military vehicles.
MIRA's whole-vehicle environmental test chambers are for extreme temperature testing with humidity and solar loading options. MIRA's twin chambers accommodate two passenger cars separately or, when linked together, one commercial vehicle.
MIRA has two state of the art climatic wind tunnels (CWTs). These facilities allow our customers to test their products under a wide range of wind speeds while exposed to different global environmental conditions. This enables customers development time-scales to be further compressed, delivering 'right first time' products into markets faster and more cost effectively than their competitors.
MIRA has played an influential role in exhaust emissions development and was the first truly independent emissions test laboratory. We now have ambient emissions capability in the Vehicle Exhaust Emissions Lab (VEEL) and climatic emissions capability in one of our Climatic Wind Tunnels (CWTone).
