Michigan’s cybersecurity and senior automotive advisers at Vehicle Resilience Technology Centre

Michigan’s cybersecurity and senior automotive advisers were at HORIBA MIRA’s Vehicle Resilience Technology Centre as part of their visit looking at the UK’s cyber resilience capabilities. The cyber resilience visit was in support of the Memorandum of Understanding on future transport technologies signed between Michigan and the UK Department for Business (BEIS) last year.

Visiting from the US were: Kevin Kerrigan, Senior Automotive Adviser to the State of Michigan; Karl Heimer senior technical advisor on cybersecurity to the MEDC. From the UK the discussions were supported by Michael Talbot, Head of Strategy for Meridian; Mark Cracknell, Head of Technology for Meridian; Dr Anthony Martin, Head of Vehicle Resilience for HORIBA MIRA; Chris Reeves, Head of Connected and Autonomous Vehicles for HORIBA MIRA; Paul Wooderson, Automotive Cybersecurity Lead for HORIBA MIRA; Peter Davies, Director Security Concepts for Thales eSecurity, and John Kell R&D Technology Specialist for DIT.

During the visit, there were updates on the latest cyber research from recent and ongoing projects UKAutodrive, UKCITE, as well as AESIN’s work on a new digital resilience methodology, updates on the newest work in the US, and a tour of the Vehicle Resilience Technology Centre.

The Technology Centre is part of a 14 facility Vehicle Resilience Technology Cluster providing a unique offering that is delivering globally significant R&D and commercial programmes for worldwide clients. Ranging from workshops and screened labs for static and dynamic vehicle testing, attack labs and system level labs, through to our city circuit allowing the safe assessment of vulnerabilities in a controlled real-world environment, this cluster underpins the delivery of globally significant automotive cybersecurity, safety and connectivity excellence.
