Rail Engineering

CFD modelling of a train.

MIRA has many years of experience in providing test and engineering support to the rail sector. Drawing on our background knowledge and experience from the automotive sector, combined with a pool of knowledge from within the rail industry, MIRA is proud to be able to provide engineering expertise and experience in a growing number of technical disciplines.

Safety Development

A key strength within MIRA is the experience developed by our safety experts in the areas of rail accident research and investigation to support development of new standards to improve the safety of occupants.

Utilising CAE and impact simulation test methods, MIRA can provide suppliers to the rail sector with cost efficient methods to develop products that are lightweight and perform to the required safety standards. In addition MIRA’s vehicle crash test laboratory enables development of front end structures prior to full scale testing which are conducted in partnership with Motorail Logistics at their test site in Long Marston.

In addition to skills within rail safety, MIRA is also able to offer test and engineering excellence across several other areas to support the rail sector in developing safer and greener transportation solutions.
