George Gillespie joined MIRA in January 2009 as CEO and has led the turnaround in MIRA fortunes with 50% growth in the business in the last few years and a growing international presence. In 2015 he led the sale of MIRA to HORIBA Ltd, Japan, and continues to lead HORIBA MIRA Ltd within the HORIBA group. Dr Gillespie is also a Senior Corporate Officer of HORIBA Ltd, Japan.

Building on a PhD from Queen’s University, Belfast for research into low emission engines, Dr Gillespie has over 25 years international experience in the automotive and marine product development sectors having been VP Strategic Product Development at HORIBA Europe GmbH and previously held senior roles with Ricardo plc and Schenck AG. He has worked extensively in the UK, Germany, USA, Japan and China.

In addition to his work at HORIBA MIRA, Dr Gillespie is also a Board Member and Vice Chair of the Leicestershire LEP, Vice President and Board Member of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), a member of the CBI East Midlands Council and Chair of the Intelligent Connected Vehicles Group within the UK Automotive Council.

Chief Strategy Officer (CSO).

Dr Davis joined MIRA in 2009 following 10 years at Ricardo - the technical, engineering and management consultancy. He is an experienced engineering consultancy professional with a solid grounding in engineering fundamentals, has up-to-date experience in the latest automotive technologies and trends and has first-hand experience of working across a comprehensive range of overseas territories and industry sectors.

Geoff’s background has given him a unique insight into the global automotive, defence and off-highway industries and he has spent considerable time in Asian, European and South American markets creating entities, developing new business and delivering engineering and strategic consultancy projects. Using this experience and as part of the new executive team Geoff oversaw the development of the brand and marketing activity, implemented the international platform that would enable MIRA’s future growth plans, whilst working closely alongside his colleagues with the development of the organisation’s commercial and technical capability.

Geoff was part of the executive team that successfully secured the sale of MIRA Ltd to Horiba Ltd in 2015, and since then has been actively involved in the integration of the two companies and development of the future corporate strategy.

In his current role as Chief Strategy Officer for HORIBA MIRA Ltd, Geoff will be overseeing the development of business in new territories as well as the creation of local teams, and the development of new business streams in emerging technology segments. Both of these items are key for HORIBA MIRA’s successful growth.

Declan Allen

Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Declan Allen joined MIRA as Operations Director in August 2011 before taking on the increased responsibility of Chief Operating Officer (COO) in February 2013.

He is a mechanical engineer by profession, with a Masters in Mechanical & Industrial Engineering from Queens University in Belfast, bringing 17 years of operational management experience in the automotive and motorsport sector to his role at MIRA – which includes responsibility for all engineering programmes, test operations, research and capital investments.

He is an experienced professional with a proven track record in technical facility management and building and leading high performance engineering and testing teams. Prior to joining MIRA he held a senior role at Mercedes Benz HighPerformanceEngines Ltd, where he was responsible for the assembly and test of engines and kinetic energy recovery systems for a number of leading F1 teams. Previous to this he held senior operational roles with Ricardo in the UK and USA.

In his role at MIRA, Declan is responsible for all aspects of MIRA's operations (with the exception of MIRA's Technology Park).

Declan works as part of the executive team to develop the operational capability and footprint to match MIRA’s expansion plans, both domestically and internationally, in the automotive, defence and transport sectors.
Tim Nathan

Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Tim Nathan joined MIRA as interim Chief Financial Officer in 2013. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant, having previously qualified with Coopers & Lybrand (now PWC). With 15 years’ experience working in the City for multinational banks - most recently as managing director in the real estate division of RBS Global Banking and Markets - his career has spanned both debt and equity transactions. He has experience of leading over €15bn of pan European debt facilities and multiple principal investments within a variety of industries, including the public house, healthcare and leisure sectors.

Tim’s selected transaction experience includes successful equity investments in Pubmaster, Odeon Cinemas, Chelsfield property group and financing the new Wembley Stadium. As an advisor running his own business, he has previously advised and successfully raised funds for businesses in healthcare, media, the internet and engineering. Tim also possesses direct industry experience, having previously been appointed as the Finance Director for the UK subsidiary of an international property development business.
